​We checked out the Soul Slings Maze Honey Jacquard Onbuhimo from the Monday Lending Library. The first trait that I noticed about this onbuhimo was the significantly cushy shoulder straps. When wearing an onbuhimo, the weight of the child is carried on the wearer’s shoulders, so comfortable straps are a plus. Onbuhimos are best suited for an older child with strong torso control, who can sit independently and self-correct in the carrier. My child is almost two years old, 30 pounds, and wears a 2T pant size. This carrier was perfect for my toddler; the material was strong and supportive and the panel length fit his trunk well. This onbuhimo was perfect for a short trip to the playground at Grandma’s house. We had to cross two busy streets to get to the playground so this was easy to get on and off, using an over-the-shoulder throw. When it was time to play, I wore the onbuhimo like a backpack, for peace of mind that I wouldn’t forget it on a park bench! There was no waistband hanging down like an SSC or extra fabric from a wrap. I forgot that I was even wearing it! I would recommend this carrier for anyone looking for a comfortable way to carry an older baby or toddler for shorter periods of time. I’m looking forward to using this carrier again!
