The Toddler Tula features a padded waist band with a single side adjusting waist buckle, adjustable padded shoulder straps with personal fit adjusters (PFAs), removable hood that uses a hook and loop to attach to the carrier shoulder straps, and a pocket on the waist band. It can be used for both front and back carries. I personally find the Tula to be a very comfortable carrier for both front and back carries whether being used for a short 30 minute trip into the store or a 2 hour hike in the woods. Even in a size 2T-3T pants, my daughter is just now big enough for the toddler size carrier as it is much larger than the Baby Tula which can be used from 15-45 lbs or 7-15 lbs when used with the infant insert (see size comparison picture). I personally find the padding very supportive and appreciate the PFAs that allow for a more personalized fit for the carrier, and do not mind the single direction adjustment of the side straps
