Tell us a bit about yourself (where you’re from, what your hobbies are, etc.) I have lived a variety of places, in my adult life I have primarily lived in Logan County, Ohio. When I have free time I like to listen to podcasts, read a nonfiction book, dive into a craft, or go on hikes with my family and dog Sadie. What does a day in your life look like with your job/pursuits? A day in my life starts with me waking up at the break of sunlight at 6am by all three of my kids. As I care for them during the day I try to incorporate a learning activity, outside time, and reading time. I look at the Columbus Babywearing leader group daily. The end of the evening once my kids in bed is when I spend some quality time with my husband or focus on something that interests me. |
My husband Michael and I have been together for 9 years, married for 6 years. Our children are Madison, Elijah, and Isaiah. Our pets are felines Nolan and Tia and canine Sadie. We are also a homeschool family.
When you were pregnant, did you plan on wearing your baby?
When I became pregnant with my first I bought a Moby and an Ergo with an infant insert. Two months after my baby was earthside I bought my first woven wrap Kokadi Erna in wonderland.
What do you love about babywearing?
Babywearing for me makes parenting on the go easier. When you add in two additional kids who are on the go I need to be able to easily catch up with them and sometimes our location isn't ideal for strollers/wagons. Another thing I love about babywearing is the closeness. The feeling of a child's head resting on your chest/back as they fall asleep is one of the best feelings ever.
Which one of your carriers do you use the most and what do you love about it?
In this stage of my life I frequently use my Integra Solar carrier sometimes I switch it up to my BaBy SaBye meh dai. The Integra is a thin comfortable option that is able to get wet. The meh dai can be used to achieve a high back carry and I use it if I know we are going somewhere where my son will want to look around.
Tell us about your main role within the CBW Leadership Team?
My primary role is staffing the Saturday Skills Workshop in Grove City and Social Media Web chair.
What additional role(s) do you have within the CBW Leadership Team?
I am also a member of CBW Fundraising and Lending Library committees.
What drew you to become a leader for our community?
I have been wanting to volunteer my time for a while and since babywearing has been a passion of mine for so long I decided that joining an organization that shares babywearing education to caregivers is the perfect place to be.
What activity are you most likely to rely on babywearing to get done?
Every grocery trip a carrier is a must we may start them in a cart but I always walk out with one being carried on me. Hiking is another activity that babywearing is pretty much a given, little legs get tired and majority of places are not stroller friendly.
What skill do you hope to master over the next year? (does not have to be babywearing specific but it *can* be)
I would like to get back into back wrapping. All of my children are at a different spot than they were a year ago and I feel they would all be willing to give me the few additional minutes I need to wrap up my youngest.
