Hannah Louise
Tell us a bit about yourself (where you’re from, what your hobbies are, etc.) I was born and raised in Columbus! I did a dual bachelor's degree during my undergraduate years; I studied Family and Consumer Science and Psychology. My graduate work is Public Health, specifically Nutrition. I see babywearing as absolutely part of public health and tend to have my perceptions bent that way. I recently fulfilled a goal of getting my CLC but continue to learn more about breastfeeding from parents. What does a day in your life look like with your job/pursuits? I am a stay at home mom but I enjoy doing some volunteer "jobs" locally. |
I met my husband at 14 years old and married sophomore year of college. After 3.5 years of infertility, we happily welcomed our first child. My family does a lot of disc golfing as a hobby and physical activity. We also have 3 dogs because we make poor decisions (just kidding, they're fine just loud).
When you were pregnant, did you plan on wearing your baby?
Yes! It was kind of just something I knew I wanted to do. My mom wore me, my parenting class teacher praised it and I loved seeing it out in public. The depth of benefits that it provides align so well with my areas of interest and philosophy.
What do you love about babywearing?
Oxytocin. Freedom. Snuggles. Baby smells.
Haha but really I love that it changes DNA and has lifelong benefits BUT even if it didn't, I like being independent and not always needing to haul additional equipment everywhere. It gave me so much confidence in the beginning and helped calm my anxious heart.
Which one of your carriers do you use the most and what do you love about it?
My Angelpack Max. It actually fits my frame really well, is highly structured for a quick seat and keeps my kiddo close.
Tell us about your main role within the CBW Leadership Team?
I'm an Educator, so I mostly teach at Skills Workshops.
What additional role(s) do you have within the CBW Leadership Team?
I also serve on our outreach/events committee and our education and training committee. I do a lot with leader mentorship during training and have helped to get Parenting Hands Free started.
What drew you to become a leader for our community?
I wanted to share and teach about babywearing.
What activity are you most likely to rely on babywearing to get done?
Errands and outings at this stage.
What skill do you hope to master over the next year? (does not have to be babywearing specific but it *can* be)
Refine my disc golf drive
